Mr. United States 2016 to Compete for ‘Mr. Real Universe’ in Lima, Peru This October
NEW YORK, NY (PRWEB) September 28, 2016 -- Mr. United States 2016, Avery D. Wilson, is the first national delegate to represent America at the “Mr. Real Universe” competition in Lima, Peru this October. The ten-day international competition is designed to select a gentleman of universal distinction, enterprise, and virtue that can represent the ideal global man. Featuring approximately 30 men from across the world, the “Mr. Real Universe” pageant will include the following categories: formal wear, swimwear, interview, and national costumes to showcase pride for each participating country.
To celebrate, Mr. United States 2016 will disrupt recent trends and reveal his national costume ahead of the international competition. To further engage the American audience during a pivotal moment in history, Wilson launched the “Land of the Free” challenge – an interactive component for supporters to submit a brief 150-word summary about the significance of what it means to be free in America along with the pride associated with that freedom. One entrant’s words of freedom will be included into Mr. United States 2016’s performance at the “Mr. Real Universe” competition. “Land of the Free” submissions can be made to info(at)mrunitedstates.org.
“Competing internationally is so exciting for many reasons. I’m especially thrilled about the opportunity to showcase our uniqueness with a national costume,” says Wilson. “My design concept is very intentional. I chose freedom as the subject matter simply because it defines who we are as a nation; yet it also encompasses our daily struggle and fight to preserve it. I’m choosing to share it with the world ahead of the competition because the international pageant will not be televised, and this is a perfect opportunity to create meaningful dialogue to build comradery among those that love our country.”
Recently crowned in New York City, Mr. United States 2016 is empowered to uplift the nation during a historic moment of racial turmoil led by unjust police shootings across the country. In a year defined by an unconventional race for the White House, Wilson is also working to amplify recovery efforts and the economic redevelopment of his hometown community of Baton Rouge, Louisiana, following a historic unprecedented flood that devastated approximately 80% of the homes throughout the greater metro area.
“In the United States, we are able to vocalize our opinions about what we feel really matters and everything about this opportunity feels so much bigger than me,” says Wilson. “Even though we deal with major challenges that impact our daily lives, it is a privilege to live in such a diverse and inclusive country. That is the epitome of what makes America so great. We are the land of the free and I will use my platform to speak up for those who feel as if their voice is unheard.”
Teens and adult males from all over the country have the opportunity to compete for the coveted title of “The Nation’s Gentlemen,” as Mr. United States.
