mygooi™ Sponsors Design Competition at Grand View University
DES MOINES, Iowa (PRWEB) December 19, 2014 -- Design students at Grand View University are being challenged to bring their fresh ideas to the business screen of mygooi’s gooisocial application, the company said. It is sponsoring a competition, which will take place the week of Jan. 12, with the winner receiving a gift card and recognition for the accomplishment.
The students are taking interactive design with Cyndi Wiley, assistant professor of art and design at the Des Moines school and winner of a 2014-15 professional development award provided by The Principal Financial Group. Wiley said the competition fits with her development of a program in Interactive Media Technology and Human Computer Interaction which is being funded, in part, by the award.
mygooi founder and president Jay Namboor said, “We are challenging the students to create a user interface (UI) that maintains the consistency of the app’s theme and purpose, using the skills they’ve learned in all their design classes. We’ll make a presentation about gooisocial, walking them through each screen and the app’s functionality. They will compete against each other in creating the most innovative UI design.
“On the last day of the competition, students will present their designs to professor Wiley and a team from mygooi. We’re looking for a winning UI design we can use partially or completely in the app. We’ll also encourage all participants to feature these designs in their portfolios and on their resumes.”
The free gooisocial app is business focused and driven by consumers. It does not include liking, friending or a skewed fan base but has a gooi rating scale that allows local businesses to compete with large corporations.
“It’s an interactive innovative app that rewards businesses for good service, and users for their feedback,” said Namboor. “gooisocial is a customizable, all-inclusive platform for businesses. It grows as their needs, products and fan base grow. This is the app that everyone will want to download.”
The UI is to be easy to navigate for all ages, but can be focused on males and females ages 20 through 40, according to the competition guidelines. The students must take into consideration mygooi’s corporate colors, fonts and the overall look of the current app screens.
“We want students to use their creativity to think outside the box!” added Namboor.
