MyVerse Launches Mightily with DoSomething.org & MOGUL Partnerships
SAN JOSE, CA (PRWEB) August 12, 2015 -- Because 92% of US high school seniors are undecided about career options, leading to 50% of them dropping out of college (according to American Revolution 2.0 - GSV) — MyVerse, a unique college and career readiness site for teens launches today, in partnership with top sites: DoSomething.org and MOGUL.
This level of college-related churn is as destructive to students as it is to the US — costing the country billions of dollars.
Today, this problem is addressed with the unveiling of MyVerse — a fun, yet reliable, color quiz that speaks the language of today’s young texting, social media set. This, along with lots of other short-form college and career guidance, is available for free to end-users at http://www.myverse.com.
MyVerse makes a mighty debut, also announcing partnerships with well-regarded organizations: DoSomething.org, and MOGUL – a platform for women that Entrepreneur Magazine named one of the top NYC startups to watch in 2015.
DoSomething.org, one of the largest global organizations for young people and social change (with 4 million members), and MOGUL, will work with MyVerse on cross-promotional efforts.
ON TEENS’ TERMS
Living digitally impacts attention spans, which are held now for only 8.25 astonishing seconds for the average human, according to National Center for Biotechnology Information, U.S. National Library of Medicine. When teenager’s resistance to long-format, tedious content is addressed, adoption is more likely, and in this case, key college and career preparations move up the task list.
Quick, easy and convenient, MyVerse is all in a day’s fun.
HOW IT WORKS
MyVerse offers a free psychometric color test that takes only a few minutes. Students are: matched to 1-5 careers, provided videos of those careers, matched to a college major, and finally, matched to a college or university.
Additional tools that help teens open the next chapter of their life, include, a budget calculator, and links to: internships, scholarships and financial aid.
The color quiz represents 16 years of cumulative research and development, driven by techniques derived from statistics and artificial intelligence, using a base sample of over 770,000 people.
MATCHING CAREER, THEN COLLEGE
The test is the first to match students to a career, and then a college, in less than a minute. The traditional method of selecting a college first, then career, proves imperfect, evidenced by rising college drop-out rates in the US.
When teens select a college, then major, then career, it becomes very disconcerting to them, if later in college, they realize that their major does not match their desired career. This adds to college-related stressors, anxieties and even drop outs.
“92% of students leaving high school have no idea what they want to be when they grow up or what they should study, and increasing drop out rates today are abysmal,” said Wayne Sharp, Founder and CEO of MyVerse. “That’s why we must not only provide teens with a tool that is attractive to them, but we must enable them to determine what career suits them in advance of selecting a college or major. MyVerse is not a blueprint for students’ lives, it’s a tool that finally captures their attention and sets them off joyously, effectively, on the journey of college readiness and planning.”
MyVerse is free to users, but brands, colleges and universities have an opportunity to work with the company’s advertising, referral and sponsorship team, in order to effectively connect with MyVerse’s targeted audience of middle school, high school and college students.
Founded in 2014, the company has secured initial funding of $500K, and is looking to complete an additional round of financing this year. In addition to revenue streams presented with brands, colleges and universities, MyVerse has international expansion and licensed versions, in the pipeline.
