National Association of Professional Women Inducts Donna May, Owner of Miss Donna’s Adaptive Learning Center, Into its VIP Woman of the Year Circle
Garden City, NY (PRWEB) September 16, 2015 -- The National Association of Professional Women (NAPW) honors Donna May as a 2015-2016 inductee into the NAPW VIP Woman of the Year Circle. She is recognized with this prestigious distinction for leadership in education. With more than 700,000 members and over 200 operating Local Chapters, NAPW is the nation’s leading networking organization exclusively for professional women.
“I’m pleased to welcome Donna into this exceptional group of professional women,” said NAPW President Star Jones. “She is a great example of how education and passion can lead to new pathways to success.”
Self-motivated, results-oriented and driven to succeed, Donna May is a seasoned professional who has constantly set her career goals to keep pace with her highest aspirations for personal excellence. For 30 years, she worked within the corporate environment of sales. Interacting with vendors who sold to wholesalers / retailers, she also held positions in pharmaceutical sales and eventually moved on to management positions.
Always a mentor, trainer or coach in her previous professions, her passion to be a teacher never left. In 2013, Ms. May took the bold leap and obtained her Ohio teaching license. She gravitated towards special education while substituting and after four months, landed a job as a high school teacher for autistic children. For the past year, she has been juggling with the idea of opening her own school and again, Ms. May decided to go with her heart. In 2015, she established Miss Donna’s Adaptive Learning Center.
The school will range from 4th - 12th grade for children with special needs. Since it needs to be open for a year in order to allow students to come and receive / accept scholarships, Ms. May has spent her summer with her staff tutoring children. She created different settings for the students to learn, including one-on-one or small classroom settings. Ms. May is also the founder of a nonprofit business, Flag City Vending (all the proceeds are donated to the National Cancer Society for Children) and is an Independent Sales Rep for YoungLiving.
