New 1 MW Vertical Axis Wind Turbine Offers New Efficiencies, Lower Costs and Maintenance
Crystal Lake, IL (PRWEB) June 04, 2014 -- Making wind energy more efficient and less expensive, a patented 1 megawatt vertical axis wind turbine, the GF 1000, offers a new solution for wind farm developers and wind turbine manufacturers.
The turbine, a brand-new design from Gale Force Windkraft, is now available for licensing and manufacturing through Niemann Sales Management, the U.S. representative. Developers, manufacturers and consultants interested in the new design can contact Marc Niemann at (847) 477-5484 or marc(at)niemannsales(dot)com.
The GF 1000 vertical axis wind turbine can be installed globally thanks to its simple construction, ease of transport and flexible placement. The turbines have a much smaller footprint compared to horizontal axis models and can be placed in remote areas, mountains, islands, offshore and even areas with light seismic activity. It was developed by means of German engineering, aerospace technology and the requirement for simplicity, allowing for reduced maintenance and repair costs.
“While there are many vertical axis wind turbines on the market today, ours has a patented spoiler system, braking and energy generation to allow for greater efficiency and fewer moving parts and labor,” said Niemann, Gale Force Windkraft representative. “For anyone working with wind energy, it offers better use of the wind and land space to produce energy at a lower cost.”
The GF 1000 is ideal for areas with strong winds or challenging geological conditions and provides a better alternative than conventional horizontal axis wind turbines. In a recent California University of Technology study, vertical axis wind turbines were proven to be up to 10 times more efficient than horizontal axis wind turbines for the same wind farm area. The GF 1000 is designed without gear boxes and an exclusive, high reliability generator which increases efficiency, decreases costs, and lowers labor and downtime. The propulsion wings and structures are cost-efficient to manufacture and easy to transport in standard shipping containers due to their modular design. No adjustments are needed to align the rotor blades with the wind as with horizontal axis designs. It stands 74 meters high and has a diameter of 42 meters.
