New at Summit Racing Equipment: Kelsey Tire Goodyear Reproduction Tires
Tallamdge, OH (PRWEB) May 23, 2016 -- Summit Racing now carries Kelsey Tire Goodyear Reproduction Tires. Available for cars from the 1920s through the 1980s, they are made using the original Goodyear molds to the exact design and construction specifications--the only difference is the modern DOT specifications molded in the sidewall.
What’s more, Summit Racing has the exact style of Kelsey Tire Goodyears as specified by the OEMs for cars like the 1965-66 Shelby Mustangs, Corvettes, and first gen Camaro Z28s. Enthusiasts can even get brand new Goodyear Polysteel GT and Eagle GT Radials for a disco-era Corvette or ‘80s Camaro.
Summit Racing carries 29 types of Kelsey Tire Goodyear tires including:
Polyglas GT Tires
If one tire defines the musclecar era, the Polyglas GT is it. It’s a bias-belted design with four polyester plies wrapped by two fiberglass belts. The design improved handling compared to traditional bias-ply tires—necessary to handle the ever-increasing amounts of horsepower and torque available by the late 1960s. Available as blackwall or with solid white letters.
Speedway Wide Tread Tires
Goodyear introduced the Speedway Wide Treads in 1967 just as the musclecar wars got really serious. These bias ply tires offered a wider footprint than previous high performance tires, helping (somewhat) to get all that factory horsepower to the asphalt. The F70-14s feature four-ply polyester construction; the F70-15s are a two-ply nylon type, designed specifically for the 1968 Corvette to reduce heat dissipation and enhance impact resistance. Both are available with a red stripe, white stripe, or raised white letters.
Custom Super Cushion Tires
This was Detroit’s preferred original equipment tire from 1957 to 1964, found on 1957 Chevys, Thunderbirds, Chrysler ‘letter’ cars, and 1961-64 Corvettes. The four-ply polyester tires are available with a one or 2.25 inch wide whitewall.
Deluxe All Weather Tires
These were the tires found on many GM, Ford, Chrysler, and other American cars from the mid-1930s to the outbreak of World War II. The four-ply polyester tube-type tires are available in whitewall or blackwall in 600/R16 (4 inch rim) and 650/R16 (4.5 inch rim) sizes.
