New Clients, New Talent: MJD Escalates Fast-Track Expansion
San Diego, CA (PRWEB) September 03, 2014 -- Continuing its growth trajectory during a strong year of new business and creative award wins, the Southern California Digital Innovation Agency MJD has signed and begun work on a series of ambitious new client assignments. It has also hired a pair of San Diego’s most highly regarded Drupal architects, as the firm expands its influence and expertise nationally by tapping the leading open source programming platform’s most elite talent.
It was a good summer overall for the agency. In addition to MJD’s attention-getting mobile tracking application at 2014 Comic-Con for game maker SEGA and its buzz-heavy new ALIEN: ISOLATION experience, the nimble digital shop won four significant pieces of business in July and August through both the pitch process and direct assignments resulting through referrals and reputation. These clients are:
Alphatec Spine - The agency added to its slate of healthcare and wellness clients, which already include DJO Global, West Health and Orascoptic. It will be designing new digital experiences in both web and mobile for the medical device company.
St. Mary’s College -- After a successful run updating their existing site to be more mobile friendly, MJD is completely redesigning and rebuilding the college’s website from the ground up, using the Drupal Open Source technology.
SDG&E: The Southern California gas and electricity provider engaged MJD to overhaul internal tracking applications.
Benefunder - MJD is working on the digital strategy and technology approach for this digital marketplace that empowers donors to find, fund and follow researchers and other higher education initiatives in a simple and efficient way.
“Word of mouth has been very advantageous for us,” says MJD Co-Founder and President Michael Maginnis. “MJD has developed a reputation for being creative not only from a design perspective, but also from a technology standpoint. We’re proud of that, and clients have really responded in a great way.”
As a result of these assignments, MJD has hired a pair of Drupal experts. Most notably, the agency has hired veteran consultant and digital architect Karl Scheirer as Senior Drupal Architect. Scheirer has spent the past five years working independently, leading a series of high profile freelance Drupal projects. Earlier this year, Scheirer completed his most ambitious and time-consuming project to date, for the entertainment production company Rifftrax (Mystery Science Theater 3000), migrating its entire Drupal eCommerce platform to the open source program’s latest platform.
Before that year-long project, Karl spent extensive periods on projects for well-known technology firms including telecommunications giant Qualcomm, video encoding company DIVX, and the software-as-a-service provider Acquia. Before going solo, Scheirer worked for a series of tech companies, where he honed his craft.
“It’s well-known around town and in the larger tech community that Karl is among the very best of Drupal talent, nationwide,” says MJD CEO and co-founder Jeremy Duimstra. “The addition of Karl brings our development team great depth and a much deeper knowledge set. We’re thrilled to have a proven leader in the Drupal community on our squad.”
In addition to Scheirer, MJD has hired another Drupal specialist, Tim Johnson, as Web Developer. He has spent the past year as an independent contractor, using the Drupal architecture, following a year at the independent tech company Orion. Johnson said he “has been considering becoming part of a team again for several months, and I liked the guys from MJD that I’ve worked with in the past. Good people, good clients, great work.”
