New Cop Book Benefits Fallen Officers
Chicago, IL (PRWEB) May 06, 2014 -- National Police Week (May 11-17) is a good time to recognize organizations that support law enforcement throughout the year. A Chicago father/son duo decided early on to share profits from their recent book with two such charities. The book titled "On Being A Cop", fifty-three short stories about police work in Chicago, was released late last year.
“It’s all about paying back.” said coauthor James Padar. “The Chicago Police Memorial Foundation has disbursed more than $3.4 million to police officers and their families in their ‘Beyond the Memorial’ mission, and that’s in addition to the support they provide when an officer is killed or catastrophically injured in the line of duty.”
The Police Chaplains Ministry is the other charity that benefits from book sales. The ministry provides a 24/7 presence for Chicago Police officers in times of crisis and traumatic events that are unfortunately all too common in daily police work.
“I think you would be hard pressed to find any officer on the street in Chicago that hasn’t been impacted at one time or another by our police chaplains,” said Padar.
The book is a series of short stories dealing with tragedies, triumphs, humor and tears that make up a police officer’s life on the streets of Chicago. It is available online at the author's website On Being a Cop as well as at Amazon and Barnes & Noble.
