New Novel ‘Shorty’ Presents Inspiring Message To Disabled Readers
ROCHESTER, N.Y. (PRWEB) September 29, 2015 -- The moving story of a disabled pig’s exciting adventure comes to life in Lois Torrance’s new novel, “Shorty” (published by AuthorHouse).
Shorty is a special little pig. The runt of his litter, Shorty is green with red ears and feet and a curly red tail. One of his legs is shorter than the other so he trots around the barn with a limp. His eyes are not fully centered and he has trouble with his vision and hearing. Around the barnyard, the other animals laugh and make fun of Shorty, which hurts his confidence.
One day, Shorty is accidentally herded onto a truck bound for an auction where some of the older hogs will be sold. While on a rainy road, the truck turns over, leaving Shorty to fend for himself. Now he must find the courage within himself to follow his heart back home to his loving mother.
Throughout her career as a nurse, Torrance has worked with many disabled patients who have done the extraordinary, despite their disabilities. She hopes to inspire other disabled readers through Shorty’s story.
“It is about choices and a state of mind,” Torrance says. “One can lead a full life with a positive mind set.”
