New Talent Academy Designed to Improve Staff Retention and Growth
Indianapolis, IN (PRWEB) August 11, 2016 -- What is needed to win the "war for talent" in business is top of mind for business leaders and HR professionals everywhere.
Every time a business replaces a mid-range salaried employee, it costs six to nine months' salary to replace them, according to the Society for Human Resource Management. It is a challenge to constantly replace talented professionals who decide to leave after just a few years.
To help these companies focus on retention strategies that are innovative, relevant and manageable, the CPA Center of Excellence® is hosting a new in-depth and innovative Talent Academy in Indianapolis this fall led by a top-notch speaker and filled with high quality content.
The instructor will be internationally-recognized thought leader in talent management and knowledge sharing David Griffiths, Ph.D., of Wales who co-authored an award-winning practice management case study based on his work with an Indiana CPA firm.
"Talent is your biggest investment; it can make or break you. The Talent Academy provides you with the tools to develop high-commitment/high-performance talent programs for your organization," said Griffiths. "An employee's first day with your organization is their first toward leaving. You are in a talent war and you have to ask yourself, are we doing everything we can to maximize commitment and performance?"
With the first two days on September 21-22 and the final three days on October 31 and November 1-2, 20 participants will gain strategies and insights to transform their organization's human resources programs and processes. This course size is limited to intentionally create a team atmosphere in which deep thinking and probing questions are encouraged. Graduates can leave with actionable solutions.
"The Talent Academy will be a unique experience for anyone interested in HR or who is a leader at their organization interested in the strength and retention of their staff," said Jess Halverson Bowyer, strategist - CPA Center of Excellence®. "The training and implementation aren't independent of each other. Having the course be split into two parts is designed for participants to better hold themselves accountable to certain goals by the next session."
The class will emphasize team-based work, and will feature highly engaging and interactive activities, including case studies. The small group size is intentional so that participants will get the most out of the hands-on learning atmosphere, as well as be able to collaborate in a private online community even after the Talent Academy has ended.
Specific topics addressed will include the role of HR in a modern, agile organization, models for workforce planning, high-performance talent management, high-impact recruiting and selection, rewards, recognition and motivation, and maintaining a competitive talent advantage. The handbook, CPA Excellence A Quick Start Guide for Defining and Mastering Vital Skills for Success, published by the CPA Center of Excellence®, will serve as the textbook for the course.
The CPA Center of Excellence® has won numerous awards for its innovative learning and training methods, including the prestigious Power of A Summit Award from the American Society of Association Executives.
"We're extremely proud of the fact that the CPA Center of Excellence® has quickly become a recognized leader in developing high quality learning and development resources," said Indiana CPA Society President & CEO Gary Bolinger, CAE. "The Talent Academy is the latest in a lengthy list of products and programs that have been developed in just the first two years."
