NexDefense Named Top 10 Innovative Technology Company in Georgia
ATLANTA (PRWEB) March 12, 2015 -- NexDefense, the foremost authority on cybersecurity for automation and control systems, today announced that it has been named a “Top 10” most innovative technology company by the Technology Association of Georgia (TAG). NexDefense was chosen from TAG’s "Top 40" 2015, and its selection was based on a number of criteria, including: degree of innovation; scope and financial impact of innovation; likelihood of success; and promotion of Georgia's innovative efforts nationally and internationally.
NexDefense provides cybersecurity for the control systems and automation of critical infrastructure, which includes power, oil & gas, water and defense facilities, through its patent-pending Industrial Network Anomaly Detection (INAD) software known as Sophia. A result of collaboration between the U.S. Department of Energy, Battelle Energy Alliance and Idaho National Laboratories, Sophia presents real-time intelligence that empowers operators to quickly expose anomalies and act before impact to avoid potential disruption and maintain reliability. Sophia’s ability to discover assets, visualize traffic patterns, and alert on deviations from normal operations provides unprecedented visibility and insight that limits risk, reduces liabilities, and ensures the integrity of the automation and control systems that are essential to our nation’s infrastructure. NexDefense announced commercial availability of Sophia in November 2014, after a successful beta with more than 70 organizations.
"The competition for Top 10 recognition was particularly fierce this year," said Dennis Zakas, a partner and founder of Zakas & Leonard, LLP, Chair of Group Office Buys, LLC, and chairperson of the Top 40 Selection Committee. "The Top 10 demonstrates the depth and breadth of Georgia's technology community. We are pleased to recognize this group of companies and believe that the community will be just as impressed as we are by their innovation and impact on Georgia's technology industry."
TAG will recognize NexDefense and the other winners at the 2015 Georgia Technology Summit (GTS) on March 25, 2015, at the Cobb Galleria Centre.
“We moved NexDefense from Silicon Valley to Georgia because of the city’s preeminent cybersecurity talent and the maturity of the greater technology ecosystem,” said Mike Sayre, NexDefense’s co-founder, president and CEO. “We are excited about leveraging the deep pool of talent and resources that Georgia offers as we work to fulfill our mission of protecting the world's control systems and the critical services they provide.”
