Noblis Welcomes the Honorable Deborah Lee James, Former Secretary of the Air Force, to Board of Trustees
Reston, Va. (PRWEB) September 29, 2017 -- Noblis, Inc., a leading provider of science, technology, and strategy services, is pleased to announce that Deborah Lee James, Former Secretary of the U.S. Air Force, has joined the company’s Board of Trustees.
Ms. James’ distinguished career of over 30 years in national and homeland security has spanned from legislative and international affairs, to programmatic and leadership experience in both the private and public sectors. As the 23rd Secretary of the Air Force, she was responsible for the welfare of nearly 660,000 active-duty, Guard, Reserve and civilian Airmen and their families. Ms. James also oversaw the Air Force's annual budget of more than $139 billion, as well as investing in R&D dollars to ensure the Air Force remains on the cutting edge of technology for decades to come.

In the private sector, Ms. James was the President of Science Applications International Corporation (SAIC)’s Technical and Engineering Sector, where she was responsible for 8,700 employees and more than $2 billion in revenue. For nearly a decade, Ms. James held a variety of positions with SAIC, including Senior Vice President and Director of Homeland Security.
Prior to her roles at SAIC, Ms. James served in the Pentagon as the Assistant Secretary of Defense for Reserve Affairs during the Clinton Administration. In that position, which Ms. James held from 1993- 1998, she served as the Secretary of Defense’s senior advisor on all matters pertaining to the 1.8 million National Guard and Reserve personnel worldwide. Prior to her Senate confirmation in 1993, she served as an assistant to the Assistant Secretary of Defense for Legislative Affairs.
Ms. James was also a professional staff member on the House Armed Services Committee for a decade, where she served as a senior advisor to the Military Personnel and Compensation Subcommittee, the NATO Burden Sharing Panel, and the Chairman’s Member Services team.
