Northeast Mazda Dealerships Partner with Vehicles for Change to Award 100 Vehicles to 100 Families
BALTIMORE, MD (PRWEB) April 12, 2016 -- Mazda dealerships across the northeast are teaming up with Baltimore-based nonprofit Vehicles for Change, Inc. (VFC) with the goal of awarding 100 vehicles to 100 families in need of personal transportation to gain or maintain employment. The ‘Drive to 100’ program will award refurbished Mazdas at dealerships from Washington, D.C. to Massachusetts between April and December 2016.
In an effort to support VFC’s mission of helping low-income families become financially self-sufficient through access to transportation, anyone who donates a vehicle to VFC can bring their donation receipt to their local Mazda dealership and receive $500 toward the purchase of a new Mazda for a limited time. Donations will be accepted directly through VFC or at the nearest participating Mazda dealership.
“This partnership with Mazda gives us the opportunity to expand VFC’s impactful car award program to cities across the northeast,” said VFC President Marty Schwartz. “Access to transportation severely limits an individual’s ability to be financially independent and provide for their families, and we know families are struggling in every city in the U.S., not just Baltimore.”
This partnership will extend Mazda Drive for Good®—Mazda’s end-of-year effort to raise money and commit service hours to charities across the nation—throughout the entire year.
“’Drive to 100’ gives everyone in our dealerships, from technicians to general managers, the chance to use their unique skills to give back to their communities,” said Mazda’s Northeast Region General Manager Brian Nash. “Giving back is at the core of what we do at Mazda, and we look forward to partnering with VFC on a program that will have such a tremendous impact on families in our own communities across the northeast.”
The car award tour kicks off in Baltimore on April 16 with events at Fitzgerald Mazda of Annapolis (Annapolis, Maryland), Heritage Mazda (Owings Mills, Maryland), Heritage Mazda of Bel Air (Bel Air, Maryland), Heritage Mazda Towson (Lutherville, Maryland), Preston Mazda (Hurlock, Maryland), Rich Morton Mazda (Pasadena, Maryland), and Russel Mazda (Baltimore). Vehicles will then be awarded each month to families at Mazda dealerships in the greater metropolitan areas of Washington, D.C.; Philadelphia; Hartford, Connecticut; New York City; Boston; upstate New York; Pittsburgh; and will conclude in New York City in December. Details and dates of each market’s events will be released throughout the year.

About VFC:
Vehicles for Change accepts and repairs donated cars and awards them to pre-qualified families for as little as $750, enabling low-income families to become self-sufficient. A nonprofit organization, VFC receives 99 percent of its car donations from the public. Since 1999, VFC has awarded more than 5,140 cars to low-income families, changing the lives of more than 17,500 people. Eligible families are referred to VFC through partnering social service type agencies. VFC car donors gain a substantial tax advantage that’s not available with most other charities. VFC is one of the few organizations in the country that makes it possible for donors to deduct the full fair market values of their car, because their donation is awarded to a low-income family.
