Oak furniture retailer OAKEA increases productivity to hire more staff
Hereford, Herefordshire (PRWEB UK) 31 July 2013 -- Going against the trend of unemployment and redundancies in the UK, online oak furniture retailer OAKEA has hired new staff to keep up with an increase in sales.
A complete rethink of the company strategy in early 2013, saw OAKEA going back to basics, moving away from wholesale operations and re-launching the e-commerce website. A new operations manager joined the team, and more recently the new role of operations and warehouse coordinator was created.
“It may be tempting to celebrate an increase in sales without actually putting anything in place to sustain this." commented OAKEA’s Henrik Pontoppidan "With new stock arriving weekly it is more important than ever to keep the warehouse organised” . The new operations and warehouse coordinator will oversee the smooth running of the now busy warehouse, freeing up the delivery drivers to spend time on the road and allowing the operations manager to plan the delivery routes and stay in touch with customers.
OAKEA designs and imports its own ranges of Oak Furniture from Vietnam. The company currently imports four Oak ranges and a Pine Bedroom Furniture Collection. The Oak ranges cover the full spectrum of popular styles from modern oak bedroom furniture, to a more traditional Rustic style dining and lounge collection. The company’s flagship range is the Utah Oak Furniture Collection, a range of neutral light oak furniture, with added multi-functional features. Henrik continued: “The new staff structure will allow the Utah range to grow, with added items such as a new compact oak telephone table, and versatile oak corner cupboards and units for awkward spaces.”
“OAKEA’s new staff structure will see faster and more efficient deliveries, and increased communication with customers.” continued Henrik. The increase in stock turnover also led to more stock production at the company’s factories in Vietnam; as a result OAKEA recruited a new member of staff on the ground in Vietnam. This role will cover everything from new product design, quality control and overseeing production, to timely shipping stock to the UK.
