Online Voting Launched As MicroFlicks Cinema Opens
LONDON, SINGAPORE (PRWEB UK) 22 July 2013 -- The curtain is up and the five films made for MicroFlicks Global Film Challenge are unveiled and available to view at http://www.microflicks.org. Sponsored by VisionFund and World Vision to showcase microfinance and raise awareness of World Vision’s microfinance programmes operated by VisionFund International, the films are today made available for public voting through the MicroFlicks website.
The contest, launched in November 2012, shortlisted five talented filmmakers from over 120 submissions, and sent them on a trip to visit World Vision and VisionFund projects in five different countries; Ecuador, Malawi, Mexico, Myanmar and Sri Lanka. Their blogs detailing their filming adventures can also be viewed on the MicroFlicks’ website.
Using their own unique styles and creative techniques, the filmmakers were given the task to create a film that engages an audience and helps them understand how a small loan can help improve lives of women, children and communities.
David Knights, Global Director of Marketing and Fundraising, VisionFund International said, “We are really excited to share these films with you as each one brings the unique perspective of the filmmaker to capture the difference microfinance has made to people’s lives. It has been very rewarding to see the enthusiasm of the filmmakers for the work VisionFund does and we are delighted to see it conveyed through each film and shared with so many people around the world.”
Each film is open to a public online vote which will contribute 40% weighting to the overall scores awarded to each film by its expert judging panel. The winning film will be celebrated as the ‘Microfinance Film of 2013’. All five finalists will receive awards and prizes, with the grand prize-winner receiving a pro level film editing suite.
“These are exciting up-and-coming filmmakers, telling the stories of our work through new eyes. This is a global competition so everyone everywhere has a chance to get involved - please log on and vote for your favourite!” continued Mr Knights.
The public may cast their votes at http://www.MicroFlicks.org from today until the end of August.
In addition to voting, there is a range of ways to get involved:
