Over 4 Million UK Adults Losing Sleep Over Noisy Bathrooms Fans
(PRWEB UK) 23 May 2014 -- The independent research, commissioned by Xpelair, a leading UK ventilation company, has revealed that over 14 million people in the UK are being affected by noisy bathroom fans, with more than a tenth of the population actually being woken up or kept awake because of this.
Boilers, pipes, washing machines and fans are all common causes of household noise that have led to a large percentage of the UK population not getting enough beauty sleep. Even when sleeping, noise can disrupt our bodies, affecting factors such as blood pressure and hormone levels, showing that getting enough sleep is as important as a healthy diet and exercise.
In addition, the study also showed that 1 in 8 UK adults have a bathroom fan that they would describe as ‘annoyingly noisy’, whilst an estimated 2.1 million of the population have had the sanctuary of a relaxing bath disturbed by their bathroom fan.
The launch of the research findings by Xpelair have been released as part of Noise Action Week (19-24 May), which has been set up by the charity Environmental Protection UK to raise awareness of the impact that noise has on people’s health and well-being.
Steve Holton from Xpelair comments: “A chronic lack of sleep affects over a third of the British public, with stress and taking work home blamed as the key culprits. However, noise is another critical factor that is keeping people up at night and the bathroom fan is one of the main offenders.
“To try and combat the UK’s endless nights of disturbed sleep, we are launching the new Simply Silent Contour Range of fans. The new range features Xpelair’s unique GhostTM Air Movement Technology that delivers extremely quiet operation by using long life silent running motors combined with precision engineered and manufactured components to avoid all forms of mechanical noise plus advanced techniques to eliminate turbulence within the fan.”
