Pavemint Networking Breakfast Featuring Los Angeles Councilmember Mitch O'Farrell
HOLLYWOOD, Calif. (PRWEB) April 30, 2018 -- Joining the technology companies that have stepped forward to help cities meet the demands of growing populations, Pavemint decided to bring a unique networking opportunity to Hollywood’s creative entrepreneurs by providing a platform for their voices to be heard with regards to civic issues.
Because Pavemint is a mobility solution that helps smart cities improve transportation and their environmental impact, Mitch O’Farrell was the ideal guest speaker. With his commitment to creating safer streets and his leadership on affordable housing with Measure HHH, the Councilmember aligns well with Pavemint’s mission to reduce traffic and CO2 and provide new forms of income to residents and local business owners by unlocking underutilized parking in high-density neighborhoods, such as Hollywood.
The April 19th event provided guests an intimate and unique opportunity to express and discuss concerns regarding matters close to home, including how to provide enough EV chargers to meet the growing demand in Hollywood, as well as addressing increased traffic congestion. Guests benefitted first-hand from the Councilmember’s insights on the progress made to install a second scramble crosswalk at Sunset and Vine. Other topics included preserving Hollywood’s heritage by protecting historically significant buildings like the Warner Hollywood Theatre (or Hollywood Pacific Theatre). Originally opened in 1928, it has been closed to the public for four years. The crowd also celebrated the successful start to the first HHH-funded permanent supportive housing project in the City of Los Angeles, located in the 13th District. Units are under construction at PATH Metro Villas, 200 of which will be dedicated to housing formerly homeless individuals.
Elaborating on the significance of the event, Councilmember Mitch O’Farrell gave the following statement:
“More professionals in the tech sector are coming to Hollywood for work and to live. As this community grows, I will continue pushing for more affordable housing, safer streets for pedestrians, and preservation of the historic landmarks that make Hollywood special. I want to thank Pavemint for the opportunity to discuss the issues we face in Hollywood, as well as what we're doing to improve the quality of life here.”
