Pearson to Host 15th Annual Online Learning in Higher Education Conference
Boston (PRWEB) February 27, 2014 -- Pearson will host its 15th annual online learning in higher education conference (Cite), which will feature compelling keynote and general session speakers and more than 60 concurrent sessions. The three-day conference brings together more than 500 higher education online learning program executives, faculty and administrators to share in the discussion and exchange of information on innovative learning strategies across a broad range of education programs in the online environment. The event will be held April 1-3 in Fort Worth, TX at the Omni Fort Worth Hotel.
The program agenda will include breakout sessions on topics such as course design, retention and student engagement, completion strategies, and faculty engagement and professional development.
Keynote and general session speakers will include:
Sir Ken Robinson, Ph.D., is an internationally recognized leader in the development of education, creativity and innovation. For twelve years, Robinson was professor of education at the University of Warwick in the UK and is now professor emeritus. The videos of his famous 2006 and 2010 talks to the prestigious TED Conference have been seen by an estimated 200 million people in over 150 countries. His book, “The Element: How Finding Your Passion Changes Everything” (Penguin/Viking 2009), is a New York Times Best-Seller and has been translated into 21 languages.
General Session Speakers
Matthew Lieberman received his Ph.D. from Harvard University. He coined the term Social Cognitive Neuroscience, an area of research that integrates questions from the social sciences with the methods of cognitive neuroscience and has become a thriving area of research.
Ian Jukes has been a teacher, an administrator, writer, consultant, university instructor and keynote speaker. Over the course of the past 10 years, Ian has delivered more than 9,000 presentations, and he typically speaks to between 300,000 and 400,000 people a year.
According to the Babson Survey Research Group 2013 Survey of Online Learning, 7.1 million students are now taking at least one online course, an increase of 411,000 students over the previous year. While innovative technologies continue to transform higher education, the Pearson Cite online learning conference presents a unique environment where professionals share best practices and new approaches that are designed to increase student success.
Pearson is accepting nominations now for outstanding faculty and administrators working in either fully online or blended learning environments. There is an opportunity for up to two winners per individual award, within the Cite Excellence in Online Administration and Excellence in Online Teaching categories. On behalf of each winner, $1,500 will be donated to an existing scholarship fund at their respective institution. Nominations are due by 5:00 p.m. ET on March 5, 2014.
