Plastic Surgeon's repairs extend life cycles in student accommodation
Devon, United Kingdom (PRWEB UK) 9 December 2013 -- Plastic Surgeon’s repair work in UPP's student accommodation has extended the typical life cycles of the kitchens from five to seven years before replacement becomes necessary, equating to considerable cost-savings for UPP.
Plastic Surgeon has, to date, spent 65 days repairing a variety of damaged items. At Lancaster University, burns to laminate worktops were the most common repair. Other repairs include peeling laminate on the kitchen worktops, and scratches on kitchen base units. As well as repairs to the inevitable wear and tear on doors, walls and desks in the study bedrooms areas.
Typically the repairs involve Plastic Surgeon’s Finishers in preparing the laminate or other substrate by cutting back any loose or burned material to ensure a good key, and then building back the surface. The area is then smoothed using a graduation of abrasives before the repair is colour matched, often with the Finisher mixing pigments by eye, and touching in details like wood-grain patterns using a fine artist’s brush.
Daren Thomas from UPP comments: “I feel that the work Plastic Surgeon has done for us has been very successful and cost-effective. In most cases, you can’t even notice the difference; it would also cost us quite a lot to replace these damaged products.”
