PONANT Lauded For Excellence in Luxury Cruising in 2016
(PRWEB) October 18, 2016 -- PONANT, the only French-flagged cruise line that is celebrated for destination-focused itineraries to remote and exotic destinations, has been recognized for a variety of coveted awards and accolades in 2016.
“We are most appreciative that PONANT’s quality and commitment to excellence is being acknowledged in the luxury cruising industry,” said Navin Sawhney, Chief Executive Officer, Americas. “This recognition comes at an exceptional time for our brand, particularly with the addition of our EXPLORER ships in 2018 and 2019.”
Most recently, PONANT was recognized in two categories by the 2016 Town&Country Travel Cruise Awards, picked by travel experts who have studied and sailed the very best cruise ships in the league. Town&Country Travel recognized PONANT in two categories, Best Overall - Expedition Cruises (PONANT/Abercrombie & Kent) and Best for Food - Expedition Cruises (PONANT/Abercrombie & Kent).

In July, PONANT was recognized as one of Travel+Leisure’s World’s Best, ranking fourth for The Best Ocean Cruise Lines with Mid-Sized Ships. This comes after PONANT’s letter of intent signed March 2016 for the order of four new mid-sized expedition ships, the first of which is expected to launch in 2018.

PONANT won Gold and Silver Awards from the 2016 Travel Weekly Magellan Awards. The award honors the best in travel and recognizes the professionals behind it all. PONANT’s Small Ship Fleet received a Gold Award in the overall category of Small Cruise Ships. PONANT’s Expedition Cruise Itinerary, the Kimberly Coast, received a Silver Award.
Winners of the 2016 Travel Weekly Magellan Awards are featured in an issue of Travel Weekly in October that will include a section dedicated to this year's winners. Winners will also receive a custom-produced statuette made by the same company that produces the Oscar® and Emmy® awards.
