Professor Child Explores How Military Deployment Affects Children
Bend, Oregon (PRWEB) April 28, 2014 -- A group of parent professionals have launched the third in a series of distinct educational films designed to provide children with tools for coping with difficult life experiences. “Children of Military Families”, created by Professor Child, features authentic interviews with children who talk about what it’s like to have a family member deployed overseas. The first two films in the series are “Children and Divorce” and “Children and Grief”. "Children and Grief" was recently awarded a "2014 Notable Children's Video" by the American Library Association.
“Children of Military Families” brings together eleven children to share their stories. In the film, they describe what deployment means to them, how it has changed their lives, what has helped them cope, and advice for other children. The documentary style production offers simple visuals of the children telling their unique stories. “What’s different about these films is the idea of children teaching children by sharing their personal experiences,” said Rory Kidder, co-founder of Professor Child. “We want children to know they are not alone in what they are experiencing and to instill a sense of hope to other children facing a similar challenge.”
Professor Child’s films retail for $34.99 and are available to be downloaded or on DVD. Each film comes with a free companion workbook that encourages children to use their own creativity to grow from their experience. Professor Child’s educational films and workbooks are purely child focused and provide a message that is relatable, hopeful and healing. Professor Child is currently in production with an additional film focusing on children who have a sibling on the autism spectrum.
