Progressive Community Services Achieves CQL Person-Centered Excellence Accreditation
ST. JOSEPH, Mo. (PRWEB) June 07, 2018 -- Today, Lynn Smith announced that Progressive Community Services has been awarded the four-year Person-Centered Excellence Accreditation from The Council on Quality and Leadership (CQL). This award confirms that the organization embraces person-centered solutions to improve the quality of life for people receiving supports and services.
Progressive Community Services provides Support Coordination to over 550 people with developmental disabilities and Family Navigation to about 120 people. We use tools and resources to help people with developmental disabilities and their families navigate through all life stages within the context of the family using life domains to guide conversations and thinking about integrated supports. Our mission is to build relationships to inspire positive social change, empower people and challenge the status quo. Our vision is an inclusive community where all people have value.
“The CQL accreditation experience was inspiring. The four year accreditation we sought included a day long stakeholders meeting to determine three areas to focus on in the next few years, hearing from people we support, their families, PCS employees and provider agencies. The areas chosen by the stakeholders were: community connections, workforce and supports and services. It is always good to hear from people you support about opportunities for development and what you are doing well. The actual CQL accreditation visit provides an intense focused opportunity to look at our policies and practices to see how they are affecting peoples’ lives and where we can make positive changes. CQL promotes Personal Outcomes for each person we support,” Smith reported.
When Progressive Community Services partnered with CQL to pursue accreditation, it undertook a rigorous process to review and improve supports and services. The efforts of PCS were focused on empowering the people who receive supports to pursue what really matters in their lives, and achieve their personally-defined outcomes. PCS has been awarded CQL accreditation as a result of demonstrating proficiency in the following areas:
- Basic Assurances® Ensuring fundamental safeguards related to health, safety and human security
- Personal Outcome Measures® Supporting and empowering people to achieve their goals and dreams
- Person-Centered Excellence Demonstrating organizational commitment to continued enhancement of systems
“CQL commends Progressive Community Services for its success in increasing the quality of life for the people it supports. We are pleased to partner with them on this journey of ongoing organizational transformation,” states Mary Kay Rizzolo, president and CEO of CQL.
