Proxy Sites for Facebook Meet Fresh Competition
Dallas, Texas (PRWEB) September 06, 2013 -- idcloak launches a free Facebook web unblocker to cater for an increasing worldwide need for Facebook access on restricted connections, such as in schools, workplaces or in internet censorship countries. Following initial speed tests run by idcloak, their website proxy matched or surpassed the performance of the top five competitor services.
The firm’s senior web researcher, Robin Welles, points to other ways the idcloak unblocker stands up to competition, “Security conscious users will prefer a proxy administered by a registered company over one run by an entirely anonymous entity, as most free proxies online are. This is a time of heavy web surveillance on one hand and emerging new breeds of Facebook security threats on the other. Proxies do offer valuable protection on both these counts, but you have to trust who runs them.”
Unlike the recently released public Facebook IP proxies, idcloak’s new unblocker operates on secure and private in-house servers. An additional improvement over the proxy list is that the new site-based unblocker does not require reconfiguration of the device or its programs, a procedure which is impossible for many proxy users as they are operating shared computers.
Welles explains how simple the site-based Facebook unblocker is to use, “Instead of connecting to Facebook directly, users access the proxy through the idcloak proxy site and this safely displays Facebook’s pages as embeds in the page.”
Also worthy of note is the fact the new proxy displays the mobile version of Facebook, “We decided it made sense to settle for the mobile version of Facebook.
It’s less prone to proxy compatibility issues and we expect most users to be on mobile devices anyway. The proxy is ideal for unblocking Facebook on smartphones or tablets.”
For users requiring secure access to the full Facebook site, not just the mobile version, Welles recommends the idcloak high privacy VPN, due for release later this month. An Early-Bird Discount for the VPN service is currently available.
