Push to Walk Attends Transportation Conference
Riverdale, NJ (PRWEB) December 24, 2013 -- November 22, 2013 Cynthia Templeton, Push to Walk Founder, attended the “Leveraging Resources for Special Needs Transportation” conference in Morris Township hosted by New Bridge Services. Transportation is a common barrier for Push to Walk’s client base, so the opportunity to learn about options and availability could not be missed.
During the conference, information was presented by several key people involved in New Jersey transportation, including representatives from Meadowlink, Division of Disabilities Services, and North Jersey Transportation Planning Authority. Each of the speakers focused on what exists, how to improve services and what options are worth considering in the future.
Information on funding of specific projects was also shared throughout the day. The NJ Department of Transportation has funded and contracted with the Voorhees Center to work with four social service agencies and research transportation over a 12 month time period in order to develop pilot programs to improve services. Additionally, Kessler Foundation provided funding to Meadowlink to determine needs of individuals commuting to and from work.
Push to Walk is committed to offering resources to their clients, which is why the organization attends conferences to gain further knowledge on subjects that are a concern for those with paralysis. “We attempt to remove as many obstacles as we can for our clients. They are dedicated to improving their daily lives, and in return we are committed to making sure not much else stands in their way,” said Push to Walk President, Cynthia Templeton.
Push to Walk uses exercise trainers certified in methods known to help people regain strength, function and independence and provide one-on-one workouts to their clients. The next closest facilities of this kind are located in Boston and North Carolina.
