Qlucore Webinar Presents User-Friendly Omics Explorer
Yorba Linda, CA (PRWEB) April 13, 2016 -- Even though data generation has become less grueling, and many organizations have adopted sophisticated data-storage and access solutions, problems still persist. In the fields of data exploration and analysis, bioinformaticians, statisticians, and scientists face daunting challenges such as how to best maximize research output, keep on track with project lead times, and use limited resources wisely.
Solutions are at hand. The software program Qlucore Omics Explorer is so user-friendly that biomedical scientists can explore data sets and verify hypotheses all by themselves, without needing to call in bioinformatics experts to help out. The program is built around visualization and an intuitive user interface. The visualizations are combined with powerful statistical methods, and mathematical algorithms enable data exploration, hypothesis generation, statistical tests, and easy reporting. Most actions entail just a mouse click or two, and users instantly see a visual presentation of all results. The interactive work model is based on dynamic PCA, and metrics such as the innovative Projection Score guides ensure that even inexperienced users select the correct settings. Unsupervised clustering is added to further guide novice users in the newly released version 3.2.
Qlucore is sponsoring a new, free educational webinar, “Involvement of Biologists in data analysis requires visualization,” which will discuss how visualization—supported by statistics—can help scientists generate new ideas and bring them closer to the raw data. Also, how Qlucore Omics Explorer can shorten project lead times and free up bioinformatics resources. Continuing education credits will be offered through the PACE system.
This webinar will be of special interest to principal investigators, managers, and directors in the areas of biology, translational science, and disease; bioinformaticians and data analysts; and post-docs and PhD students in the fields of biology, genetics, proteomics, and medicine. The speakers are Carl-Johan Ivarsson, MSc, president, Qlucore, and Thoas Fioretos, MD, PhD.
Carl-Johan is one of Qlucore’s founders, and has served as the company’s president since 2007. He has expertise in the software, bioinformatics, and telecommunication industries. Carl-Johan worked at Ericsson from 1998 to 2007, where he built and managed the new product management unit at Ericsson Mobile Platforms in 2001, and headed Ericsson Mobile Platforms in China from 2004 to 2006. Since its inception, he has facilitated Qlucore’s growth from a start-up company at an incubator to a profitable company with customers in 25 countries and offices in Europe and the United States.
Dr. Fioretos is a professor and senior consultant at the Department of Clinical Genetics, University and Regional Laboratories, Lund University. He is an elected member of several learned societies, associate editor of Genes Chromosomes and Cancer, he has published more than 100 scientific original research articles/reviews in international journals, serves as a reviewer for several national and international funding agencies, and is, apart from Qlucore, a co-founder of Cantargia AB.
The free webinar, hosted by LabRoots, will be presented on May 17, 2016, at 7 am Pacific Time/10 am Eastern Time/4 pm Swedish Time.

About Qlucore:
Qlucore was founded in 2007 as a collaborative research project at Sweden’s Lund University. The firm was supported by researchers from the Departments of Mathematics and Clinical Genetics to address the vast amount of high-dimensional data generated with microarray gene expression analysis. It was recognized that an interactive software tool based on visualization was needed to conceptualize the ideas evolving from research collaboration. The basic concept behind the software is to provide a tool that can take full advantage of the most powerful pattern-recognition system that exists—the human brain. The result is an extremely fast core software engine, which enables users to handle and filter high-dimensional data (big data) and instantly visualize it in 3-D. This helps users to identify hidden structures and patterns. The latest version of the software, Qlucore Omics Explorer, is used by scientists in more than 20 countries and is a key tool among other biologists and medical doctors to creatively analyze their experiment data. The Company's customers are mainly from the life-science and Biotech areas.
