QuickMobile Mobile Event Apps Critical to Customers’ Sustainability Efforts
Vancouver, BC (PRWEB) December 10, 2013 -- Mobile apps have steadily replaced printed program guides and event planning binders as the primary source of event information and communication. Among the key reasons for this are the trend towards “green meetings” and an increasing focus on sustainable event initiatives that reduce the environmental impact of meetings and conferences. For QuickMobile, all types and sizes of global customers exhibit this commitment to a smaller carbon footprint, from the United Nations and Global Reporting Initiative to Hallmark Cards and Sustainable Brands. In lieu of printing large event guides, event organizers are turning to QuickMobile’s MobileEvent app solution to capitalize on the widespread popularity of mobile devices for event communication, networking, social media and engagement.
A research study conducted by amiando found that green and sustainability issues are higher on the agenda for 62 percent of event organizers. A 2013 poll of readers by Successful Meetings readers also found that nearly three quarters of respondents have green policies and procedures in place for some of their meetings. Almost 20 percent have policies in place for all of their meetings. In addition, 73 percent of Successful Meetings respondents said that the sustainability policies and procedures of hotels influenced their decision to use that facility, while 67 percent indicated the same about event venues.
“An increasing number of associations and enterprises approach us with sustainability as an important event goal,” said Patrick Payne, CEO of QuickMobile. “While in the past it may have been a fringe benefit, reducing paper has become a motivating factor for going mobile. The more information and processes that we can incorporate into our mobile event apps, and the easier we make communication through the apps, the more we support our customers’ sustainability efforts. Nearly every feature we offer assists in this goal, eliminating the need for printed program guides and updates, paper surveys, session and presentation materials, and marketing materials. We are also working on improved reporting systems so that these organizations can accurately quantify their sustainability efforts and the subsequent ROI. All of this translates into more environmentally responsible meetings.”
Below are several recent customer examples of the environmental benefits of QuickMobile event apps:
Global Reporting Initiative Global Conference on Sustainability and Reporting
• Eliminated 75-page program guide and other paper materials
• Saved 13 trees required to produce 648 kg of paper for the materials
• Saved 27,013 liters of water and 1 m3 CO2e was not emitted
Hallmark Gold Crown Retail Summit
• All printed materials put onto iPad app provided to more than 600 participants
• Going paperless and using the iPad app were deliberate efforts to embrace how Hallmark plans to conduct future retail training events
UN Global Compact Rio+20 Corporate Sustainability Forum
• Completely paperless event
• Saved $15,000 in printing costs with all digital strategy
• Used custom “Commit to Action” app feature to digitally collect, share and display 200 commitments to action from leaders from business and investment, governments, local authorities, civil society and UN entities covering social, economic and environmental issues
Nikos Sarilakis, Director of Marketing for Sustainable Brands, commented about the 2013 Sustainable Brands Conference, “It was important to see how much paper we had wasted in the past and how the app would impact this event. Even with a 25 percent increase in attendance this year, we actually printed fewer programs, using 30 percent less paper than our last event. We were conservative this time, but now we plan to print even less at our next event. For us, the app was all about helping our community and promoting our sustainability focus, and once you go mobile, there really is no way back."
