Raptor Technologies Reports Accelerated Growth as School Security Spending Rises
Houston, Texas (PRWEB) June 29, 2015 -- As school security spending continues to rise, more school districts are focusing on enhancing access control measures and are turning to Raptor Technologies, the nation’s leading provider of visitor management software for K-12 schools. In 2015, nearly 80 percent of K-12 schools still use pencil and paper to log visitors while 20 percent of schools have replaced this outdated visitor check-in method with more technologically sophisticated systems.
The Wall Street Journal reports that the school and university market for access control, video surveillance equipment, and mass notification systems totaled $768 million in 2014. That number is expected to increase to more than $900 million by 2016.
“We have seen a clear trend across the country toward a bottom up assessment of security practices by school districts,” said Jim Vesterman, CEO of Raptor Technologies. “Many of those assessments conclude that replacing pencil and paper entry logs is a basic step in securing each building. Just in the last two years we have installed the Raptor system in more than 5,000 additional K-12 schools.”
Once the Raptor system is implemented, a district can instantly screen school visitors against a national database of registered sex offenders, monitor custodial orders, print guest-identification badges, and track who is coming in and out of the school buildings. The system is web-based such that access to the records is available even in the event of an emergency evacuation.
“The Raptor system is essential for tracking visitors across our 18 schools,” said Ray Wilson, Safe Schools Coordinator for the North Penn School District. “Implementing Raptor has provided a simple and cost effective way to add an extra layer of protection for our students, faculty, and staff.”
Of the approximately 20,000 K-12 schools using electronic visitor management software, more than half of these schools use the Raptor system. To learn more about Raptor Technologies, visit http://raptortech.com/.
