Revelation Software Concepts Announces First Major Enhancement to Rev-Trac 7
(PRWEB) November 15, 2016 -- Revelation Software Concepts Pty Ltd (RSC), a pioneer and market leader in simplifying SAP change control, today announced the release of their first major enhancement (SPS01) to version 7 of their flagship SAP change control automation software, Rev-Trac. The SPS01 update includes many features that strengthen Rev-Trac 7’s Release Management Workbench, supports all aspects of SAP S/4 HANA change management and further leverages the custom code database of RSC’s Salt SAP change intelligence softwar e.
“This service pack provides important foundational improvements to Rev-Trac’s popular Release Management Workbench, but it’s Rev-Trac’s expanded integration with Salt’s custom code database that excites our Rev-Trac customers,” said David Drake, RSC Founder and CEO. “The current release introduces Peripheral Object Dependency Checking and includes API integration points for further Salt and Rev-Trac Java integrated enhancements we’ll make available in the foreseeable future.”
Details of the current SPS01 include -
Rev-Trac Release Management Workbench
Updates to the Release Management Workbench focus specifically on release and change status synchronization, and adds the capability of synchronizing any request type including non-SAP requests. The Workbench utilizes the new Automatic Request Status Synchronization, allowing for automation of status synchronization between Rev-Trac requests.
Request Level Explicit Dependencies
Request level explicit dependencies will allow for an organization to define the sequence of migration for entire Rev-Trac change requests, treating each of their subordinate transports as a group that can be sequentially controlled. Setting the dependency will ensure that all transports on the dependent change request precede all of the transports of the subject change request. It will override transport release Date and Time sequencing, yet ensure that request specific sequencing is honored such as setting a program transport to follow the associated data dictionary definition transport. Finally, this can be used in conjunction with explicit transport dependencies to have a finer granular control over the transport sequencing during production go-lives.
Source Specific Cloning
Source-specific cloning allows a single request to manage the replication and retrofit of changes to multiple applications, using a single Rev-Trac clone request.
Expanded Support for SAP S/4 HANA
SPS01 expands Rev-Trac’s SAP S/4 HANA support by including both native and non-native (non-ABAP) changes. This allows closer, more error-free coordination of all changes in the database, even those introduced by parallel development teams or by teams working in hybrid systems outside the direct HANA environment. It allows coordinated enforcement of migration sequences and will detect and alert teams to any conflicts.
New Peripheral Object Dependency Check
As the first in a series of Rev-Trac features improving the integrity of changes delivered across multiple complex or hybrid SAP landscapes, the new Peripheral Object Dependency Check, or POD Check, helps teams avoid problematical outcomes from moving changes or releases forward without required dependent object versions. It resembles a specialized form of impact analysis; such problems are very difficult to detect reliably in large or complex systems without change process automation. In a survey of customers that had previously used a manual non-automated process or system, 94% estimated that Rev-Trac change control automation has eliminated their level of manual effort and improved efficiency by 50% or more. The POD Check feature leverages Salt’s custom code database to index and map technical relationships and dependencies between object versions. Combined with Rev-Trac’s change and release automation capabilities, it allows Rev-Trac users to assess probable results accurately when moving changes or releases forward, by alerting users to any required technical object versions missing from the target system.
POD Check also discovers any transport dependencies existing in a Rev-Trac request. A Rev-Trac user can now view all WIP (Work in Progress) objects that a development depends on even when they are not included in his/her own Rev-Trac request. This feature performs dependency analysis whether it is applied at the change or release level.
POD Check’s streamlined change integrity assurance process enables SAP development and testing teams to deliver higher quality changes consistently to production, even when parallel teams independently impact hybrid local/remote HANA implementations.
