Rivers Agency Certified As Ecologically Responsible Company By Green Business Bureau
Chapel Hill, NC (PRWEB) November 25, 2014 -- Rivers Agency, a full-service advertising firm located in Chapel Hill, has received certification as a ecologically responsible company by a nationally-known organization established to encourage and promote sustainable business practices.
The Green Business Bureau, headquartered in Dallas, performed an energy and property audit and certified Rivers Agency as an environmentally responsible company after its recent move to a new 4,700-square-foot office on the ground floor of Greenbridge Condominiums at 601 W. Rosemary St.
Phillip Szostak, an award-winning Chapel Hill architect known for his elegant, minimalist designs and use of sustainable materials, designed Rivers Agency’s new space. Szostak has contributed to several notable area projects, including the Durham Performing Arts Center.
For the agency’s new space, Szostak created an open layout with floor-to-ceiling exterior glass, bathing the work spaces with natural light. Rather than dividing the main floor with cubicles and walls, Szostak established workstation systems, with frosted glass dividers that provide separation yet allow easy collaboration among creative teams. The lower floor also has a state-of-the-art kitchen with energy-efficient appliances. A center stairway leads to a mezzanine level with the company’s executive offices and meeting and working space for technology and development specialists.
Opened in mid-2010, Greenbridge Condominiums is one of the most environmentally sustainable structures in the state. Greenbridge is the first development in North Carolina to receive LEED gold certification from the U.S. Green Building Council, which sets a national standard for energy-efficient, environmentally conscious architecture. The building’s features include three green rooftops, solar and thermal heated water and high-performance, floor-to-ceiling windows made of recycled glass.
“In our new space, we’re looking to build on this foundation of environmental responsibility and use our resources in the most efficient manner possible,” said Lauren Rivers, president and founder of Rivers Agency. “To minimize our energy usage, for example, we’ve outfitted the space entirely with lighting systems and long-lasting LED light bulbs from Cree Lighting, which is one of our clients.”
Prior to its move, Rivers Agency had been based at 303 Pritchard Ave. in Chapel Hill. In that location, the agency had 2,000 square feet of office space.
