Robots to Take the Lead in IT Sector in 2014
Atlanta, GA (PRWEB) January 22, 2014 -- According to CIO Magazine, in the future robots are likely to replace many IT jobs currently filled by full-time IT professionals. While the number of potential positions that will be lost is not clear, CIO experts can confirm that “the rise of smart machines have a radical effect on the IT and outsourcing environments. The market’s infatuation with robots was likely spearheaded by Google’s recent string of robotic company buyouts.
As the predictions for employment throughout the IT sector in 2014 place robots in the forefront, the most recent Employment Situation Economic Release from the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) is evidence of consistent growth of human employment throughout the sector. In the release BLS announced a .08 percent increase in the number of workers in the computer systems and design industry from November 2013 – December 2013. According to the release which was published on January 10, 2014, the computer systems and design industry now employs 1.71 million workers. All normal seasonally changes within the computer systems and design industry have been discounted to provide exact monthly changes. This slight increase shows a step in the right direction for the sector which has seen a steady increase in the rate of employment since September 2013.
“The good news is that things are moving upward. If employment numbers start to drop that is when IT professionals should become concerned,” said Grant Elmury from ITJobsWeb.com.
BLS houses computer systems and design under the larger professional, scientific, and technical services sector. This sector has not seen any mass layoffs since June 2013. The unemployment rate fluctuated greatly mid-2013 until it leveled off at 5.1 percent in September. The rate remained steady at 4.8 percent from October 2013 - November 2013 and dropped drastically to 4 percent in December 2013 which is great news for IT professionals on the job search.
