Baltimore, Maryland (PRWEB) October 28, 2016 -- Lou Mary, Inc. operator of Ruth’s Chris Steak House today announced it will cease the operation of Ruth’s Chris Steak House at its Water Street, Baltimore, MD location on Friday, October 28, 2016, where it has operated for over 20 years.
Steve de Castro, President said, “We want to thank all of our loyal customers who have supported us for over two decades of successful operations."
The Ruth’s Chris Steak House located at Pier V. (711 Eastern Avenue in Baltimore, MD) will continue to operate and de Castro said that he will “focus his resources on the successful growth of our Pier 5 location.”
In 1992, Steve de Castro started with his first Ruth's Chris Steak House restaurant on Water Street, followed by four locations in North Carolina, one in Atlantic City, NJ and other Maryland locations in Annapolis, Pikesville, and Baltimore’s Pier V. On September 26, 2016, the company opened its tenth Ruth’s Chris Steak House restaurant in the Villages of Odenton Station, adding 75 new jobs to the Odenton, Fort Meade and the National Business Park area. The restaurant is directly adjacent to the MARC Station in Odenton.
De Castro stated, “As we continue to grow as an organization we have clearly realized that our most important area of focus is the service we provide to our guests and with the changing marketplace dynamics, and shifting emphasis on the Baltimore Harbor and East Harbor area it was necessary to make this change."
The Havana Club, where de Castro opened in 1995, while a viable concept and brand for many years which specialized in providing an upscale environment for cigar aficionados, unfortunately had to stop operations because of the 2007 Clean Indoor Air Act which prohibited cigar smoking in the club, and was used primarily as a banquet facility in recent years.
Ruth’s Chris Steak House- Water Street employees will be absorbed into positions at other local area Ruth’s Chris Steak House locations.
Jim Mitich, an executive with the company added, “Our employees are like family, and we always look out for each individual the best we can. As we made this decision to focus the company’s direction, employee retention was an important factor and something we are handling with great care. Our human resources teams are working closely to ensure as many jobs are as possible are retained.”
