Saudi Arabia Ministry of Health to Deploy the HyGreen Hand Hygiene System
Gainesville, FL (PRWEB) March 06, 2014 -- HyGreen, Inc. today announced a collaborative partnership with The Ministry of Health (MoH) of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. Through its distribution partner, Techno Orbits, the HyGreen Hand Hygiene Reminding and Recording System will be deployed in 25 MoH hospitals supporting its goal of reducing hospital acquired infections through improved hand hygiene.
This is the first deployment of an electronic hand hygiene monitoring system in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the first international sale of a U.S. electronic hand hygiene product into the international market.
Every year, failure to wash hands causes hundreds of thousands of deaths worldwide as organisms are transmitted from patient to patient via the unwashed hands of healthcare workers. The implementation of HyGreen supports the MoH’s commitment to patient safety by actively reminding healthcare workers if they forget to wash before patient contact and wirelessly recording hand hygiene compliance.
“Studies done by hospitals using HyGreen show that reminding healthcare workers to wash only in those instances when they forget and recording all hand hygiene events is the combination that brings about true change in hand hygiene behavior,” says HyGreen Vice President for Client Services, Elena Fraser. “HyGreen gives just in time coaching to healthcare workers when they forget to wash and reports the information in real-time. The importance of data on individual healthcare workers is essential, giving hospitals the opportunity to reward healthcare workers who are doing a great job and re-train healthcare workers who are not complying to hand hygiene protocols.”
“The HyGreen Hand Hygiene system was determined to be best-in-class based in an extensive review of other electronic hand hygiene products,” said Khalid Bin Rushed Al Fageh , Managing Director of Techno Orbits. “We are pleased to bring this product to the Ministry of Health.”
“The implementation of the HyGreen system demonstrates the MoH’s commitment to providing excellent healthcare to the people of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia,” said Ron Youngblood, Executive Vice President of HyGreen. "As part of our global mission to fight healthcare associated infections through improved hand hygiene, we've designed HyGreen to drive high-quality healthcare delivery, patient safety and operational excellence that helps to reduce infections and save lives."
HyGreen was designed to follow the recommended hand hygiene guidelines from leading industry experts, including the Association for Professionals in Infection Control and Epidemiology (APIC), the Society for Healthcare Epidemiology of America (SHEA), the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), the World Health Organization and the Joint Commission.
