School Specialty Earns Award Winning Grade from Wellness Council of America
Greenville, Wis. (PRWEB) July 30, 2013 -- The Wellness Council of America (WELCOA), with local affiliate Wellness Council of Wisconsin, recently presented School Specialty, Inc., with a Gold Well Workplace Award. This award recognizes an organization for its commitment to the health and well-being of its employees.
School Specialty, with its Club SSI wellness initiatives, annual free health assessments for employees and their spouses which are tied to medical premium discounts, health fairs, and opportunities to learn and apply healthy living practices while at work or at home, has demonstrated a long-term commitment to provide the knowledge and support for employees to maintain or improve their health.
WELCOA President David Hunnicutt said, “Good companies know that their employees are their most valuable asset. Better companies adopt policies that support employees’ efforts to reduce health risks and are bold about motivating them through new strategies, programs and tactics. The best companies know that by improving their employees’ health, they can simultaneously reduce health care costs.”
“We’re honored to have received this award from WELCOA. It’s an on-going effort from our HR and benefits team to provide all School Specialty employees with the knowledge, tools and encouragement to take charge of their own health and well-being,” said Laura Vartanian, senior vice president of human resources.
The Well Workplace Awards initiative is driven by a rigorous set of criteria outlined in WELCOA’s seven benchmarks to a result-oriented Well Workplace. Since its inception in 1991, over 1,000 organizations, ranging from education institutions, to non-profits, to private sector businesses, have joined the list of “America’s Healthiest Companies” by receiving the Well Workplace Award. “School Specialty worked hard to successfully meet the rigorous standards set by the Well Workplace process. It is our pleasure to recognize them as the newest Wisconsin employer to achieve Well Workplace Gold status,” said Wellness Council of Wisconsin’s Executive Director, Jessica Raddemann.
