Scrunchie Queen Reinvents Scrunchie and Launches Dance-Mate
Saint Augustine, FL (PRWEB) January 08, 2014 -- The popular hair accessory called the scrunchie was the must-have accessory in the 1990s and in the 21st century, Dance-Mate, the company behind the innovation has now reinvented it and expanded the accessories line to include an exciting accessory called garter purses.
Dance-Mate has revolutionized the scrunchie giving it a refreshed look for a new generation. Expanding the line is the garter purse, an innovative way to carry a cell phone and accessories.
Catherine Denny, often known as the “Scrunchie Queen,” said the hair accessories market is always open to new trends but that solid concepts, like the scrunchie, are a mainstay.
“A good idea never dies. The scrunchie is still a stylish way for women to bring a contemporary look to their hair style while also keeping it under control. It’s been the go-to hair accessory that women have turned to for decades whether they want a casual do, or a more formal classy pulled-together style,” Denny said.
Denny has a long history in the fashion industry. She began her career at the age of 18 on the ground floor of the accessories division at Nordstrom, working her way up to management. Denny’s inspiration to create her own hair accessories lead to the founding of Catherine’s Hair Treasures and the re-invention of the scrunchie from a hair basic to a high-fashion item.
The company moved from her two-bedroom flat in San Francisco to a 5,000 sq. ft. warehouse. From there, Denny continued to grow her company into an accessory empire that sold to major retailers across the nation.
Denny has made several appearances and trunk shows at places such as Macy’s, Nordstrom, I. Magnin, the Emporium, Bullocks, and Accessory Lady. Eventually she opened Hair Treasures on Post Street in San Francisco, before renaming her company Dance-Mate® and expanding to include what has become the company’s latest biggest seller, the garter purse.
