Sitterly Movers Partners in Deploying Pioneering Energy Saving Technology
Springfield, MA (PRWEB) July 01, 2013 -- Beginning this summer, Sitterly Movers (Roger Sitterly & Son), a family-owned and Springfield-based transportation company since 1930, is deploying ATDynamic’s Trailer Tail, an award-winning green technology on some of their largest fleet vehicles. Sitterly is also the first company of its kind to work with the manufacturer to modify the design to fit moving company trailers.
The technology is known as the "Trailer Tail" and has been awarded the 2012 Wall Street Journal Technology Innovation Award for its aerodynamic design and fuel efficiency. The Trailer Tail is a lightweight, thermo-dynamic plastic composite faring installed to the back of a tractor trailer, to streamline airflow behind the trailer. According to ATD Dynamics, the device can reduce aerodynamic drag and corresponding fuel consumption by 6.6% at sustained speeds of 65mph.
