Skywalk Pharmacy Opens Delafield Facility, Implements Revolutionary Workflow Using TCGRx HDStock™ High Density Storage System
(PRWEB) February 05, 2015 -- Skywalk Pharmacy, a full service pediatric retail and specialty pharmacy, with clinic locations at the Children’s Hospital of Wisconsin in Milwaukee and New Berlin, recently opened its newest facility in Delafield, WI. Skywalk’s mission is to provide high quality specialized pediatric services—including over the counter, hard to find and complex medications, and custom compounding—to children and their families. In addition, Skywalk offers convenient home delivery, and online and smart phone refill services to simplify the lives of those caring for sick children.
As a result of space limitations in their New Berlin location, Skywalk employed the services of TCGRx to optimize their pharmacy workflow. With floor space in the new facility limited to approximately 900 square feet, Skywalk was challenged to fit a large formulary into a small space. The TCGRx HDStock™ high density storage system enabled them build out a fully functional pharmacy with a traditional stocking level of inventory, but in half the space. With 406 skus on hand, traditional shelving would typically require an estimated 24 square feet, but HDStock is able to fit that same inventory into less than 10.4 square feet. The ease of access and reduced walking time has significantly reduced the time taken for filling scripts. The system is also mobile, offering Skywalk the flexibility to reconfigure the space if necessary. “Our efficiency has definitely improved due to the enhanced workflow afforded by the TCGRx HDStock system,” said Julie Gall, Administrative Manager of Skywalk Pharmacies.
Skywalk fills 50,000 prescriptions annually between all three pharmacy locations and considers security a high priority. The HDStock system has locking drawers that secure the medications. The system also has a clean, modern look and TCG was able to incorporate Skywalk’s logo into the design, making the pharmacy aesthetically pleasing and supporting the Skywalk brand. While Skywalk is testing the system in New Berlin, they’re also considering rolling it out to their Milwaukee location. “As Skywalk’s busiest location,” added Gall, “our Milwaukee pharmacy offers the greatest opportunity to increase efficiency through enhanced workflow.”
TCG is committed to providing smart storage systems tailored to a client’s needs for an organized pharmacy and optimized workflow. Duane Chudy, President/CEO of TCGRx stated, “We are pleased to be able to support Skywalk as they expand their presence in Wisconsin. TCG also shares Skywalk’s vision to help the large population of children with chronic diseases and special needs that cannot be easily addressed in local pharmacies.”
