Spartan Race Supports Female Obstacle Racers with its Spartan Chicked Community
Bohemia, NY (PRWEB) July 15, 2013 -- On July 15, Spartan Race, an obstacle racing series, promotes its Spartan Chicked community – a community for female Spartan Race competitors.
According to a Spartan Blog published in July, 2013 titled “Spartan Smarts: The Women of Spartan Race,” a chiropractor, neuroscientist, pharmacist, judge, immunologist, and microbiologist are just some of the professions that members of the Spartan Chicked community hold.
Many of them balance their careers and their family with training. Some are still in school, trying to earn PhD, MD and MBA degrees. Other Spartan women have created their own businesses, written books, or developed new kinds of technology.
Here is an in-depth look at some of these Spartan women:
Jamie Gold is a Certified Kitchen Designer and an author. She earned her master’s in communication management. In the Spartan blog, Jamie says, “I love being able to share my passion with clients, readers and seminar attendees alike. I also love the flexibility of keeping my own schedule, letting me start and end most work days with a physical outlet. I have learned that breaking the desk chair to dining chair to couch with exercise is essential for my health and sanity.” She plans on running her first Spartan Sprint in January.
Becky Mang is a senior mechanical engineer at AMEC, an international engineering and project management company. In the Spartan blog, Becky says that “every day I learn something new (which I love) and on really good days I’m able to teach someone else something new! Being a female in a male dominated field has been difficult at times, but it has made me stronger and more confident. I enjoy mentoring the next generation of female (and male) engineers, helping them meet their career goals. One of the most interesting things I have seen is the inside of an underground salt mine almost 1,000 meters below surface.” Becky recently completed her first Spartan Race and plans on obtaining her Spartan Trifecta.
Joe De Sena, founder and CEO of Spartan Race, comments on the Spartan Chicked community. “We are extremely proud of the accomplishments of the women who run Spartan races. I encourage Spartan women to join the Spartan Chicked Facebook group.”
