Sqrrl Bolsters Cybersecurity Capabilities with New Advisors
(PRWEB) September 22, 2014 -- Sqrrl has added two cybersecurity luminaries to its advisory board: Dr. Sameer Bhalotra and Richard Bejtlich. These additions reflect Sqrrl’s successes in positioning its Big Data platform as a next generation cybersecurity tool.
Sqrrl is the company behind Sqrrl Enterprise, a real-time platform for securely integrating, exploring, and analyzing Big Data to accelerate analyst search and discovery. One of Sqrrl Enterprise’s primary use cases is advanced data breach detection. Both Fortune 500 companies and large government agencies are utilizing Sqrrl Enterprise to fuse together disparate cyber data sets, explore their relationships, and find trends and anomalies in those datasets that are associated with malicious behavior.
“Cyber intrusions and breaches have become one of the greatest operational risks faced by large companies and government agencies,” says Sqrrl CEO Mark Terenzoni. “We are seeing strong traction around cybersecurity applications for our product and are aligning the composition of our team to our customer requirements.”
Dr. Sameer Bhalotra brings a wealth of cybersecurity experience to Sqrrl based on his experiences in government and industry. Most recently, he was a cybersecurity executive at Google, where he served after Google acquired his cybersecurity company, Impermium. Dr. Bhalotra’s career in public service included senior roles at the White House, the United States Senate Select Committee on Intelligence, and the Central Intelligence Agency. He has an undergraduate degree from Harvard University and a doctorate from Stanford University; is a Senior Associate in the Technology and Public Policy Program at the Center for Strategic and International Studies (CSIS) in Washington, DC; and an affiliate at Stanford University’s Center for International Security and Cooperation (CISAC).
Richard Bejtlich comes to Sqrrl with years of experience bridging the technical and national security worlds, as well as integrating strategic thinking with private sector security. He is Chief Security Strategist at FireEye, a nonresident senior fellow at the Brookings Institution, a board member at the Open Information Security Foundation, and an advisor to Threat Stack. He was previously Director of Incident Response for General Electric, where he built and led the 40-member GE Computer Incident Response Team (GE-CIRT). Mr. Bejtlich began his digital security career as a military intelligence officer in 1997 at the Air Force Computer Emergency Response Team (AFCERT), Air Force Information Warfare Center (AFIWC), and Air Intelligence Agency (AIA). Mr. Bejtlich is a graduate of Harvard University and the United States Air Force Academy.
