Stepping Stones Museum Children Celebrates 11th Annual Worldwide Day of Play
Norwalk, CT (PRWEB) September 24, 2014 -- Stepping Stones Museum for Children recently hosted an all-day special event. From 10:00 am – 5:00 pm on Saturday, September 20, the museum opened its doors to all for free as a participant in Nickelodeon's 11th annual Worldwide Day of Play. Stepping Stones is an official registered Nickelodeon site.
Stepping Stones posted and tweeted about this special family day as the "Countdown to Shutdown." The idea of the day was to shut down all electronic devices, including TVs, video games, computers, mobile phones, tablets, etc. and get active.
Families spent the day at Stepping Stones Museum for Children and enjoyed physical activities, amazing performances and cool activities. The event featured outdoor field games, interactive sports and fitness demonstrations, awesome educational activities and amazing live performances from several community partners. Everything was for free and got every family moving and making memories.
Some of the activities children of all ages and their families enjoyed included:
• gymnastics and yoga
• taking photos with sports mascots from local professional teams
• dancing the afternoon away at a "Rockin' Dance Party," featuring local bands
• playing chess against the experts
• enjoying a "Family Garden Book Walk," engaging both mind and body
• talking with experts from the community for ideas on ways families can take charge of their health
• and much more!
About the Worldwide Day of Play:
Now in its 11th year, Nickelodeon's Worldwide Day of Play is an entire day dedicated to active play. On this day, Nickelodeon programming goes "dark." The day is part of a larger movement to reduce childhood obesity and reinforce lessons about the tremendous benefits of healthy lifestyles among children. Stepping Stones is proud to serve as a local host of this event for the seventh consecutive year.

Stepping Stones is located at 303 West Ave., exit 14N or 15S off I-95 in Norwalk. Museum hours are from 10 a.m. – 5 p.m. Tuesday through Sunday from Labor Day through Memorial Day, and Monday through Sunday from Memorial Day through Labor Day.
