Street Fight Debuts a New Look, Celebrates Four Years Covering Hyperlocal
(PRWEB) March 05, 2015 -- Four years into its history covering the dynamic disruption taking place in local, Street Fight, the leading source of information and events in local tech, has launched a new look to better reflect the contours of innovation and changing consumer behavior in mobile and local marketing and commerce.
“We have successfully established a place for Street Fight as the pre-eminent source of information in hyperlocal marketing, commerce and technology — representing the best new ideas and highlighting innovations in the field, wherever they may come from,” said Laura Rich, co-founder and CEO. “It was time for the Street Fight site to evolve, as well, in order to more clearly communicate the areas we deem important in this ongoing story, and to help companies and individuals see their place in our coverage and at our events.”
“There has been a real evolution in our thinking about the industry since we launched four years ago,” said David Hirschman, co-founder and COO. “In the beginning, we were really heavily focused on hyperlocal publishing. But now, as the sharing economy has picked up steam and first-tier hyperlocal companies have matured, we’re more focused on thinking about how businesses are connecting with consumers.”
The site’s cleaner look features more content on the home page, more information about the products and services Street Fight offers, and a new top nav that makes clear the breadth of focus, helping visitors more easily find the specific content they seek:
Local Search -- Perhaps the oldest and with the most direct lineage to the legacy dominance of local marketing, yellow pages, local search continues to lead and undergo the most transformation taking place.
Ad Tech -- This category captures the continued innovation and range of technologies that are driving change in the way marketers and agencies conduct business and deliver messages to consumers. From programmatic to attribution and more.
Mobile -- Mobile may ultimately be seen as just another channel/medium/platform, like the desktop. But these days it really stands on its own as a key platform undergoing hardware iterations that provide a multitude of opportunities for targeting and building relationships with local consumers.
Commerce -- Merchants’ point-of-sale systems, transaction-based marketing, and the way consumers purchase goods are all undergoing radical change. Marketing is increasingly a function of commerce, and commerce-centric systems play a key role in maintaining connections between businesses and consumers.
Media -- Publishing has faced an identity crisis over the last several years as companies have steadily shifted their budgets from print to a variety of digital options. We continue to track their evolution toward new digital business models.
Brands & Small Business -- We single these out as groups whose moves and budgets most everyone wants to follow. We have covered them through our Case Studies and Interviews since our launch, and we will continue to track and highlight effective campaigns here.
These areas define the scope of effort and innovation in local tech. Street Fight expects to see consolidation across these functions as the industry continues to mature, and the site will evolve with those developments.
