SEATTLE (PRWEB) June 07, 2016 -- More than 6 million Americans, primarily adults over age 65, suffer from dementia often associated with Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s diseases. Scientists at the UW Medicine Neurosciences Institute Memory & Brain Wellness Center are leading the way with dementia treatment innovations and a progressive approach to care. At the UW Medicine Memory & Brain Wellness Center, scientific researchers collaborate with circle of care providers to also deliver educational and emotional support to family members who care for someone with dementia.
Groundbreaking research and state-of-the-art treatments require more than passion and drive. That is why Era Living, a family owned and operated, Seattle company comprised of eight retirement communities, is taking action by becoming the first corporate sponsor of the UW Medicine Memory & Brain Wellness Center.
On Thursday, June 9th Era Living will host a cocktail party fundraiser at Aljoya Thornton Place, 450 NE 100th Street in Seattle, from 4pm – 6pm.
“We believe that with continued research, innovation and funding, breakthrough treatments for Alzheimer’s, Parkinson’s and other dementia-related diseases will be discovered,” said Era Living Vice President of Operations, Jacob Almo. “The UW Medicine Memory & Brain Wellness Center is a national leader in this important fight and we are proud to support the efforts of this brilliant group.”
During the event, UW Medicine Founding Chair of the Department of Neurology, Dr. Bruce Ransom and UW Medicine Professor of Radiology and Neurology, Dr. Thomas Grabowski will speak about recent discoveries in dementia care and innovations on the horizon. Both experts will remain on hand to visit with guests.
Approximately 100 people are expected to attend the fund-raising cocktail party, with a requested minimum donation for $100 each. Era Living presents a check in the amount of $25,000 to the UW Medicine Memory & Brain Wellness Center at the event.
