Surviving Postpartum Depression, An Upcoming Documentary by Jessandy Entertainment
Birmingham, Al (PRWEB) July 15, 2014 -- Most people know at least one woman who suffers from Postpartum Depression (PPD). However, many people do not realize that they know someone suffering because most women are ashamed of their condition. Also many women are told that their condition is not real and they need to "suck it up" since they are moms.
Jessandy Entertainment is making a documentary called Surviving Postpartum Depression. This film will follow the lives of women who are suffering from PPD. This ailment is often kept quiet as most women are ashamed and feel abnormal or believe it makes them bad mothers. Many times the impact suffered can last for a year. Symptoms of PPD include, but are not limited to:
Loss of appetite
Insomnia
Intense irritability and anger
Overwhelming fatigue
Loss of interest in sex
Lack of joy in life
Feelings of shame, guilt or inadequacy
Severe mood swings
Difficulty bonding with your baby
Withdrawal from family and friends
Thoughts of harming yourself or your baby
This documentary will show women who have, or have had PPD, and the impact if left on their lives. Along with showing PPD survivors, we plan to talk with medical professionals to give a more well rounded picture of PPD. The goal of this is film is to ensure that women know there is a community of women just like them, the problem is common, and they can overcome it. Along with shedding light onto the issue of PPD, this documentary also has a goal of removing the stigma of PPD so more women feel encouragement to get help.
