Susan Oliver Documentary ‘THE GREEN GIRL,’ About Star Trek’s Iconic Original Green Orion Slave Girl, Releases in Early 2014
Los Angeles, CA (PRWEB) November 13, 2013 -- Most baby boomers remember Susan Oliver as one of the most important television guest stars on nearly every show from the late 1950’s to the mid-1970’s. She also gained worldwide fame for her extremely popular role on Peyton Place, TV’s first prime time soap.
But Susan Oliver will be remembered more than anything else as Star Trek’s original Green Girl, part of her role as “Vina” in the series’ original 1964 pilot (which became the 1966 two-part episode The Menagerie). The Green Girl uses this iconic performance as the jumping off point to look at the sadly short but remarkable life of an actress who many critics believe should have been one of Hollywood’s biggest stars.
The Green Girl documentary includes 40 interviews with Ms. Oliver’s friends and contemporaries, including Lee Meriwether, David Hedison, Roy Thinnes, Kathleen Nolan, Nancy Malone, Gary Conway, Monte Markham, Celeste Yarnall, Peter Mark Richman and Rosey Grier. Pappy states, “I’ve been very heartened by the positive response we’ve had in the past month. I’m saddened by how often Susan Oliver was overlooked by the industry to which she gave so much of her life. It’s very encouraging to find out I’m not alone.”
The Green Girl IndieGoGo fundraising campaign continues until November 30. The finished film is slated for release in February 2014.
Green Girl Productions is an independent film production company based in Los Angeles.
