Team TFCU Raises $1,300 for the Babylon Breast Cancer Coalition
Hauppauge, NY (PRWEB) October 28, 2013 -- In recognition of Breast Cancer Awareness month, TFCU employees were invited to donate $5 each, which entitled them to wear their jeans and a pink shirt to work on Wednesday, October 16. Two hundred and sixty employees accepted the offer and raised $1,300. Team TFCU, the credit union’s community involvement committee, then selected a local organization, the Babylon Breast Cancer Coalition (BBCC) to receive these funds.
The BBCC, founded in 1993, has made it their mission to provide an array of patient support services, education and advocacy programs dealing with women’s gynecological and breast cancer concerns. They are a not-for-profit organization which provides educational programs to encourage healthier lifestyles which would decrease the high instance of these cancers in our community.
“Collectively, TFCU’s staff is a compassionate and caring group, said Robert G. Allen, President/CEO of TFCU. “Given that several of our colleagues have been affected by this disease, I think staff members felt an even greater propensity to show their support. Time and again I am amazed by the generosity of my staff.”
