Oakbrook Terrace, IL (PRWEB) November 16, 2013 -- Terra Vista of Oakbrook Terrace, a new Alzheimer's assisted living community, held a groundbreaking ceremony on a 3.8 acre parcel located in the Chicago suburb of Oakbrook Terrace, IL. In addition to providing much needed quality care for individuals with Alzheimer's and other dementia, the new community will bring considerable area development, employment, and revenue to local businesses.
Construction begins later this month and Terra Vista of Oakbrook Terrace is expected to be open early 2015. Kensington Management Group of Morton Grove has over 40 years of experience as skilled care and assisted living operators and is the management oversight and lead developer of this community.
Terra Vista of Oakbrook Terrace, dedicated to the memory care client, incorporates best practices from three major disciplines: resident centered memory care, building design catering specifically to assist memory loss clients, and the incorporation of technology to enhance brain health, connection to family, friends and the world. "We are confident that families and clients will recognize and appreciate Terra Vista's approach as a significant and welcome departure to care previously available to those living with Alzheimer's. We want to keep the resident with Alzheimer's or other dementia's connected to their families, even when that family is unrecognizable," said Nancy McCaffrey, Director of Senior Development at the Kensington Management Group. "This building's design and the way we have crafted services accomplishes just that."
The groundbreaking, attended by Tony Ragucci, Mayor of Oakbrook Terrace and 23rd District State Senator, Tom Cullerton, shows the strong commitment the city of Oakbrook Terrace and the State of Illinois has in supporting projects of this type. "Terra Vista of Oakbrook Terrace will be an asset to this community and neighboring communities," stated Mayor Ragucci. Senator Cullerton added, "This is not only a great benefit to the area here in Oakbrook Terrace, but to the senior community in general. Senior care is such a crucial piece for the state of Illinois and we appreciate the investment."
Shael Bellows, CEO/President of the Kensington Group, closed the ceremony with these words, "I want to tell you how excited we are to bring the pinnacle of senior care to Oakbrook Terrace. It has been wonderful so far to work with the community of Oakbrook Terrace. Not only is it an outstanding site for this type of project, but the people within the city we have worked with have been delightful, professional and welcoming."
