New York, NY (PRWEB) January 20, 2014 -- The Knickerbocker Hotel, a legendary New York City landmark in Times Square set to open its doors in 2014, announces Gemma Keating as Director of Sales & Marketing. Since her appointment in June 2013, Keating has been instrumental in the development of The Knickerbocker Hotel’s overall concept and opening strategy. In her role as Director of Sales & Marketing, Keating will oversee the strategic direction of sales and marketing, lead The Knickerbocker Hotel’s leisure and group sales divisions, and manage all communications initiatives.
“Gemma’s poise, enthusiasm and extensive knowledge of the luxury hospitality industry, both domestic and international, make her an invaluable asset,” said Jeff David, Managing Director of The Knickerbocker Hotel. “We are thrilled to have Gemma on board and she will undoubtedly contribute to The Knickerbocker Hotel’s success and acclaim.”
Having worked in the luxury hospitality sector for more than a decade, Keating has held sales and marketing positions with various Five- and Four-Star hotels in NYC and throughout the world. Most recently, Keating served as Director of Sales & Marketing for The Chatwal, New York, where she played an integral role in the opening of the hotel and managed all sales and marketing activities, as well as public relations initiatives. She routinely expanded sales revenue goals and provided the highest level of attention to The Chatwal’s roster of discerning guests. Previously, Keating was the Director of International Sales at The Waldorf Astoria, New York, where she successfully developed the hotel’s International group market, which was a new market segment for the hotel at that time. Keating’s experience also includes working within the sales divisions of several of Ireland’s most acclaimed, upscale hotel brands.
Keating has earned consistent recognition from the Hospitality Sales & Marketing Association International (HSMAI) and the National Marketing and Sales Association for leading the “best hotel sales team” and providing “best hotel customer care.” Additionally, she maintains a regular presence at industry events, including ILTM, MITT and EIBTM. Keating is a member of Meeting Professionals International (MPI) and the Society of Travel Executives (SITE) and is an active participant in NYC & Company events.
