His expertise in orthopaedic surgery started with a residency at Monmouth Medical Center in New Jersey. Dr. Mintalucci further pursued the subspecialty in Hand and Upper Extremity Surgery as a fellow at the Rothman Institute and Thomas Jefferson University in Philadelphia. He now has a special interest in taking a minimally invasive approach to many common ailments. He also preforms arthroscopic, endoscopic, percutaneous and other state-of-the-art surgical techniques in hand, elbow and shoulder surgery.
During his education, Dr. Mintalucci published several medical works on hand and upper extremity medical research endeavors as well as presenting his findings at industry conferences.
On a personal note, Dr. Mintalucci enjoys spending time with his wife, newborn son and dog “Charlie.” He is excited to start anew in Sonoma County and spend time with his family and friends pursuing his passion for sports, traveling, and exotic foods and enjoying the California outdoors. He also looks forward to meeting new patients and starting his practice at SRO’s renowned center of excellence, The Hand Center at SRO.
The Hand Center at SRO was developed as a response from a lack of local treatments for a rising national health concern. According to the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons (AAOS), there are approximately 2,500 hand surgeons in the U.S., which represents less than 11 percent of the country’s orthopedists. As Americans increase in age, maintain active lifestyles and increase their use of mobile devices and computers, there is a significant increase in hand injuries and chronic conditions. SRO’s Hand Center responds with the latest in orthopaedic technology and a synergy between the technology and a collaborative relationship between the patient, physicians, therapists and professional staff in order to ensure a full recovery.
The Hand Center at SRO, led by the renowned Kai-Uwe Mazur is the only hand center in the north bay that has orthopaedic surgeons who have fellowship trained in hand and upper body extremity surgery. The hand center at SRO provides patients with state-of-the-art medical care in a comprehensive and supportive environment. The SRO treatment model focuses on diagnostics and meticulous surgical details as well as a carefully monitored post-surgical rehabilitation and recovery process.
The Hand Center’s surgeons and in-house certified hand therapists consult together on cases to assure quality of care and deliver successful results for patients. This personalized, collaborative approach incorporates on-site diagnostic x-ray, MRI services as well as SRO’s fully automated and HIPAA-compliant electronic records system that works to achieve the highest level of patient recovery.
At SRO, Dr. Mintalucci plays an integral role in a team of 9 multi-specialist orthopedic surgeons, and experienced physical and occupational therapists. In its’ efforts to bring the best outcomes to patients, SRO has set the model for exceptional orthopedic care for over 60 years. SRO offers its patient’s in-house diagnostic imaging, rehabilitation, sports injury prevention, as well as advanced surgical treatments in joint replacement, sports medicine, trauma care, hand, foot, and ankle surgery and general orthopedic surgery.
