The Republic of Tea Launches Artwork Submisson Contest
Novato, CA (PRWEB) February 13, 2014 -- Each year The Republic of Tea, leading purveyor of premium teas, features original artwork on its Limited Edition First Flush Darjeeling Tea tin to celebrate its first plucking of the season. This year, the company announces that it’s widening its submission window to allow all customers (Citizens) and artists nationwide to participate.
The Republic of Tea procures the finest first tea leaves of spring or “First Flush” from the renown Darjeeling region of India. The leaves are carefully selected from one of the famed tea gardens found at the base of the mighty Himalayan Mountains near the Nepalese border. The Minister of Leaves samples a variety of first spring leaves from many different gardens of the region, carefully selecting what represents the perfect “First Flush” spring leaves of the years' crop. Very limited quantities are then expedited via air freight so that Citizens across the globe can enjoy the extremely fresh, special reserve tea for a limited time. The tea is celebrated each year as a Limited Edition blend, of which only 1,000 tins are produced, and features custom artwork.
“This year’s Limited Edition Tea will be the 12th in the series, not only celebrating the first harvest of the 2014 season but also the hard work put forth by one lucky Citizen,” says Lori Silva, Minister of Creative Endeavors. “We’re honored to share this unique opportunity with all of our Citizens as we work to procure this highly regarded special reserve blend.”
One winner and two runners up will be announced on March 4, 2014:
o Winner: Custom artwork featured on the 2014 First Flush Darjeeling Tin crediting the artist, 3 tins of the First Flush Darjeeling Tea and an exclusive gift basket from The Republic of Tea.
o 1st Runner Up: Free tin of 2014 First Flush Darjeeling Tea and a teapot.
o 2nd Runner Up: Free tin of 2014 First Flush Darjeeling Tea and a travel press.
When evaluating artwork for the packaging, the company is looking for art that can represent any of the following: a tea leaf, the culture of tea, the region of Darjeeling, the arrival of new spring leaves and spring’s vibrant colors. Entries for the contest are to be submitted via e-mail as a JPEG or PDF to inquiry(at)republicoftea(dot)com by February 28, 2014. Eligible participants are only those who “Like” The Republic of Tea’s Facebook page. Participants should include 2014 Darjeeling Contest in the subject line of email submissions.
