ThreatAdvice Hires Former FBI Intelligence Head as Director of Intelligence

Crane, former FBI supervisory intelligence analyst, as director of intelligence.Crane will use his expertise as director of intelligence to keep ThreatAdvice on the forefront of the constantly changing world of cybersecurity. He will work to enhance ThreatAdvice’s current cybersecurity offering and will contribute to the development of new security solutions that address other types of threats businesses face today.
“I have over 25 years of experience dealing with threats of all kinds and find cyber-attacks one of the most difficult to neutralize because the enemy is hidden and literally everyone is at risk,” Crane said. “That’s why cyber education and the other services ThreatAdvice provides are critical to help mitigate these attacks,” he said.
Crane worked for the FBI for over seventeen years, in the most recent capacity as supervisory intelligence analyst with management responsibility for the Field Intelligence Group. Under his command the FIG was a “one-stop shop” for the analysis and processing of raw intelligence gathered during the course of FBI investigations of major FBI programs such as cybercrime, counterterrorism, foreign counterintelligence, white collar crime and more. Early in his FBI career Crane was loaned from the agency to the Office of Independent counsel to supervise document control and evidence collection for the Whitewater investigation.
Currently Crane serves on the Alabama Private Investigator’s Board through June 2019 as appointed by Governor Kay Ivey. Prior to joining ThreatAdvice Crane served as a partner and the chief privacy officer for McAnnally Tax Group where he was responsible for financial and fraud investigations for the firm. In this position Crane developed security protocols and procedures to ensure government compliance and information assurance.
