Raising the Barre students shall complete service and session hours as assigned by a faculty member who will help them schedule their commitments and mentor them through their projects. Candidates will be expected to uphold four Pillars of Character and Service: Leadership, Responsibility, Compassion and Confidence.

Leadership requires candidates to demonstrate their skills by serving as dance class teaching assistants for one class per week from September through May, totaling approximately 40 hours per year at any TDA location
Responsibility requires that candidates volunteer, both in studio and during performance shows, including backstage responsibilities and ushering at two performances or events per year. Such performances include: Twinkle Star “SHINE” Showcases, June Recitals, Dancin’ Holiday Magic, Nutcracker, June Show Stars, and Holiday Parties.
Compassion requires candidates to give back by committing at least 16 hours per year towards community service, such as retirement home visits, offering free dance workshops to underprivileged youth and children with special needs, costume and dance wear drives, flash dance mobs coupled with goods drive, military group performances, and more.
Confidence will require candidates to take both etiquette classes, as well as training in public speaking. These will be fee-based courses presented by industry professionals.
